Properties To Buy In Spain
Owning holiday homes is no longer reserved for the rich and famous. More and more ordinary Brits are buying properties abroad to rent out for parts of the summer and holiday in whenever they want.
It is no surprise that Spain is one of the most popular destinations for UK investors with its long summer days, almost guaranteed sun and English fluent locals. It is also a country rich in culture and stunning landscapes that has a plethora of activities and sites to see.
Property in Spain is also relatively affordable and summer rental income helps pay for much of any mortgage required. It is important though that you choose a suitable location if the summer holiday crowd is your target. Research popular resorts carefully, try and find out the demographics of the tourists and tailor your property towards them. For instance, if a resort has many elderly visitors find a property within level walking distance of the town centre and/or transport links.
If, on the other hand, you plan to keep your holiday home all to yourself it really only comes down to your own personal preference. Don’t rush into things though. Although you won’t be spending all of your time here, you should think as carefully about it as you would if buying a permanent home for you and your family in the UK. You may or may not wish to think about any possible increase in the value of the property, and one thing to take into special consideration is whether or not surrounding land is likely to be developed in the near future.
When buying a Spanish property always be sure to seek legal advice either here on in Spain so that you have someone to guide you through the house buying process. It is a little different to our own here in the UK so be prepared. This way you’ll prevent many of the stresses that come with buying a property overseas.
