Smaller LCDs Starting To Get All Of The Features
Friday, 28 November 2008

There's good news for anyone who wants to find a good LCD TV that's less than 21 inches. There are new plans for a number of smaller televisions that have all the benefits that were once restricted to the big models.

The new standard will have small televisions featuring more than one HDMI input. The new models should also feature an HD Ready resolution and the latest in picture processors.

The example for this new standard is Panasonic's TX-19LXD8 model. It is clearly influenced by computer monitor origins and the 1680 x 1050 resolution makes this clear. It features 2 HDMI inputs and it will be able to use a 1080p source. Each model is already equipped with the Viera 3 picture processing engine, which is the latest technology Panasonic has to offer. The downside is that it looks a little simplistic when compared to other options.

LG's 19LD3000 will also feature 2 HDMI inputs and even an HD Ready resolution of 1440 x 900. It will also feature a picture processor that uses the best of LG's renown XD Engine. The total look is nice too. The model looks just like a smaller version of the more expensive models and even has a few of their special bonuses, like the invisible speaker system.

Samsung's LE19A656 is another good example. It looks like a smaller version of the “Hint of Red” models and features their DNIe picture processor. The 1440 x 900 HD Ready resolution is supported by only one HDMI input.
